Why do I have the wrong initial equity?

Created by Andrea Bordoni, Modified on Thu, 30 Nov, 2023 at 2:47 PM by Andrea Bordoni

ST calculates the initial equity by taking the current equity and subtracting the total profit (or adding the total loss). If a chart has a record of all trades, and the current equity is correct then the initial equity will be correct.

If the initial equity is wrong then one of the following is wrong:

  • One of the trades has an incorrect profit/loss;
  • Some trades are missing, such as the data at the time the trade occurred is no longer present (this is particularly common with NinjaTrader which drops the first bar every update);
  • The current equity is incorrect;
  • ST occasionally rounds amounts and if one is not careful and one does not look at the trade confirmation window, enter correct values, commission etc., in the long run these small rounded amounts can cause a change in the equity.
